The recording of “Monarch Atlantic” began immediately after the release of Red Dunes’ “Dawn She Waits,” and delves back into fuzz and delay-oriented themes.

Although not much different than the previous effort’s techniques in improvisation and unplanned songwriting, this time the vision ventures into different regions of sound. “Monarch Atlantic” depends less on post-processing and more on direct sound, sometimes far more abstract, sometimes far too close.

Monarch Atlantic wanders through different soundscapes and influences throughout, and the outcome is frayed with a slough of different arrangements — mostly depending heavily on repetition and minimalist guitar arrangements. This collection contains lyrics partially penned by Argetsinger in a mental hospital and many of the songs were recorded immediately after his release from the institution.

100 of these units were dubbed and packaged in our seedy underground laboratory.
